Legal notice & privacy

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit dominicrutishauser.ch and why. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva, Switzerland. When you open a page, the server automatically records technical data such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser and operating system. This data is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure, is not combined with other data and is deleted by the hosting provider after a short period.

Visitor statistics (Umami)

To understand how the site is used, I use Umami, an open-source analytics tool that I run myself at umami.dominicrutishauser.ch. Your data is not passed on to any analytics provider. Umami sets no cookies, does not store your IP address and does not follow you across other websites.

Umami records: the page you visit, the referring website, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and your approximate country and region (derived from your IP address, which is then discarded). It also records a few interactions on this site: clicks on the contact buttons and the language switch, how far you scroll down the page and which section you spent the most time on. Visits are grouped into anonymous sessions that cannot be linked to you as a person.

I use this data only in aggregated form, to improve the site. For visitors from the EU, the legal basis is my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you block the script in your browser, the site works exactly the same.

Contact by email

If you write to me, I use your email address and the content of your message only to reply to you and keep the correspondence for as long as needed for that purpose. Clicking a contact button only opens your own email program; nothing is sent until you send the email yourself.

Links to other websites

This site links to LinkedIn, GitHub and other websites. No data is transmitted to them until you click a link. From then on, the privacy policy of the respective website applies.

This website does not use cookies.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time which personal data about you I process, and request that it be corrected or deleted. Where the GDPR applies, you also have the right to restrict processing, to object and to data portability. To exercise these rights, write to hello@dominicrutishauser.ch. You can also lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, with your local data protection authority.

I update this policy when the website changes. The version published here applies.
